Costs for Legacy Planning
Planning Fees Based on Family Dynamics, Scope, and Long-Term Objectives
Legacy planning engagements vary depending on the complexity of your financial picture, family structure, estate planning needs, existing advisory relationships, and long-term objectives. Most Legacy by Design planning engagements generally range from approximately $5,000 to $15,000 for the planning process itself. Because every situation is different, the exact scope and fee are determined through an initial assessment process.
The true cost of legacy planning is not only the planning fee. It is the risk of leaving wealth, family expectations, and future decisions uncoordinated.
Work Typically Includes
- Discovery and assessment
- Strategy development and planning
- Coordination with attorneys, CPAs, and other advisors
- Ongoing guidance throughout implementation
- Evaluation of your current financial position, family priorities, estate considerations, liquidity needs, and long-term planning goals
Importantly, you are not paying for a standalone document or static plan. The process is designed as an ongoing partnership that combines both strategy and implementation over time. In many cases, the greatest value comes from helping families avoid costly inefficiencies, reduce uncertainty, improve coordination across advisors, and make more informed decisions about wealth, estate planning, family stewardship, and long-term financial clarity.
As part of that philosophy, Erben Associates approaches planning from a value-first perspective. If this process does not ultimately create more value than it costs, your planning fees are returned.
For many families, the more significant cost is often the cost of not planning at all. Uncoordinated estate structures, unnecessary tax exposure, unclear family expectations, insufficient liquidity planning, and lack of preparation for future generations can create long-term financial and personal consequences that become far more difficult to address later.
